FG orders vice-chancellors to reopen schools
Following the industrial court verdict ordering striking lecturers to call off their 7 months old strike and resume academic activities, the federal government has directed the vice-chancellors of public universities across the country to reopen schools and begin lectures.
The government issued the directive through the National Universities Commission (NUC), in a letter signed by its Director, Finance and Accounts, Sam Onazi, on behalf of the Executive Secretary of the commission, Professor Abubakar Rasheed.
In the letter addressed to all vice-chancellors, Pro-Chancellors, and chairmen of governing councils of federal universities, they were directed to ensure that ASUU members resume lectures immediately, and to make sure that daily activities and routines of the various University campuses are restored.
