Tems was born on the 11th of June, 1995 to a British father and a Nigerian mother. She had her early years in the UK but had to return to Nigeria at the age of five after her parents divorced. Returning to Nigeria, Tems lived with her mum and brother in Ajah, Lagos State.

Returning to Nigeria after school, Tems got a job as a digital marketer which she had to quit after a while to pursue full time her long-seated passion for music. The decision happened to be the right one, as shortly after that, in 2018, she released her first single ‘Mr. Rebel’. Mr Rebel gained a lot of praise and approval from Nigerians, especially on social media. A year after, Tems released ‘Try me’, another great hit that further brought her to stardom. Since the release of the song, Try Me, has gained over 2 million views on YouTube.
