Where Do Rich Nigerians Repair Their Expensive And Exotic Cars
Have you ever wondered where all these exotic cars you see owned by the rich and wealthy in Nigeria get repaired and/or serviced? Or do you assume that, if they are that expensive, they would never get damaged and so would never need any repair?
Riding expensive and exotic cars is a common show of how wealthy an individual is, especially in Nigeria. Celebrities, politicians, businessmen women etc are quick to amass a luxurious collection of cars in their garages. These cars are their preferred choice when going for occasions, vacations, or just jolly rides.
Exotic cars are cars characterized by high performance, luxury, impeccable interior and exterior features, style etc. They provide a feel of class and status to anyone who owns them. Exotic cars are numerous, common examples include Rolls-Royce Phantom, Bentley Flying Spur, Ferrari 458, Bugatti Veyron, Lamborghini Aventador, McLaren MP4-C, Lamborghini Huracan etc.
The cost of exotic cars ranges from millions to billions of naira, depending on the customization preferences of each owner. Like every other car, exotic cars need maintenance and servicing from time to time. As you would already expect, the cost of maintenance for any exotic car is expensive. This explains why most exotic car owners don’t use them as their exotic vehicles for their usual daily grind. Also, the sad state of Nigerian roads makes the daily commute difficult. It is rare to find an exotic car being used for inter-state travel frequently.
How Much Does It Cost For Repair/Service Expensive And Exotic Cars
There is a reason why mostly the rich can afford to use an expensive or exotic car in Nigeria. Besides the initial expensive cost to buy one, it requires a huge amount of money to maintain. For instance, supercars like Ferrari and Lamborghini require high-performance engine oils like synthetic oils with SAE 5W-40. These oils cost between ₦20,000 – ₦40,000 per quartz. The number of quartz you have to buy for your exotic car depends on the size of its engine. Most exotic cars require at least 3-5 quartz. The Rolls-Royce Phantom V12 engine needs about 8 quartz. Engine oils Ferraris and Lamborghini need to be replaced every 8,000-9,000 miles. In the same vein, luxury cars like Bentley and Rolls Royce require an engine oil change at about 7,000 miles. Luxury cars are built in such a way that there is an automatic system that regulates oil use and also signals the driver when to replace it.
Similarly, a supercar like the Bugatti Veyron needs to have its set of tires replaced every 2,500 miles. A set costs about ₦15,000,000! If you ask me, that’s quite a lot of money. This means, if you drive this car a lot, you might have to spend at least ₦15,000,000 on tire replacement every few months!
It’s important you note that the money listed above is not inclusive of the cost of workmanship. Depending on your mechanic, the workmanship cost can range from ₦25,000 – ₦120,000.
